Glenn Bowdin is Head of the UK Centre for Events Management at Leeds Beckett University (formerly Leeds Metropolitan University), where responsibilities include managing the operation of the centre, management of the events team and leading the strategic direction of the centre. His academic qualifications include an MPhil, which focussed on the evaluation of quality costs, a topic which he is currently picking up in pursuit of a PhD. Glenn regularly presents at national and international conferences, has recently co-authored the best-selling textbook, Events Management (third edition published by Elsevier Butterworth-Heinemann in 2011 with Johnny Allen, William O'Toole, Robert Harris and Ian McDonnell) and is co-series editor of the Routledge (formerly Elsevier Butterworth-Heinemann) Events Management book series (with Professor Donald Getz and Professor Conrad Lashley).

Glenn was founding Chair (2004-2015) and now Executive Committee Member of the Association for Events Management Education (AEME), an association which he helped establish in 2004 to support and enhance the development of events management education, and is a Founding Director of the International Events Management Body of Knowledge (EMBOK). Glenn led the development of the events benchmarks in the revision of the QAA (2008) Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism benchmark statements and was an external examiner at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh and Dublin Institute of Technology.

Glenn is a member of Meeting Professionals International, Institute of Hospitality (MIH), a Senior Fellow of the HE Academy and is the university liaison with EVCOM. He previously served on the Business Visits & Events Partnership committee and the Avisory Board for the HE Academy Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism Network for AEME, has produced research for People1st and other clients, is on the Editorial Boards of Events Management, an international journal and the Journal of Convention & Event Tourism, and is convenor of Event-Management, an international list for research and education in events management.
